Coaching

In conjunction with the Ontario Soccer Association`s Coaching Development Program, SOSA`s Coaching Development Program focuses on the promotion of certification through the Canadian Soccer Association`s Community Coaching Program.

The Community Coaching Program consists of a three-tiered system whereby a coach can develop along with his/her players. The Level 1 & 2 coaches course is a one-day session and Level 3 is a two-day session, all of which  focus on the technical components of coaching soccer.

Youth 1 (Introduction to Coaching) - coaching and developing players from ages 5-8 years.

Youth 2 (Youth Coaching Methodology) - prerequisite = Youth 1; coaching and developing players from ages 9-12 years.

Senior (Senior/Elite/Competitive) - prerequisites = Youth 1 & Youth 2; coaching and developing senior players and/or competitive players from ages 12-18 years.

To be eligible to coach a competitive team, the Team Head Coach must have completed all three components of the Community Coaching Program - Youth 1, Youth 2, Senior.

As outlined in the OSA's Development Plan on the OSA web site, Theory courses are optional for the Community Coaching Program but are mandatory requirements to pursue a Provincial `B` License.
